GTA 6 Gets Two Limited-Edition PS5 DualSense Controllers Ahead of November Release

Grand Theft Auto VI is getting its own PlayStation 5 hardware tie-in, with Sony and Rockstar Games revealing two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers built around the colors and visual identity of Vice City.
The Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition and Grand Theft Auto VI White Limited Edition DualSense controllers were unveiled during Sony’s September 3 State of Play presentation. Both are scheduled to begin launching on November 19, 2026, the same day GTA 6 arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Each controller will carry a recommended price of $84.99 in the United States, with pre-orders opening September 10.
There is one wrinkle behind the word “exclusive,” though. GTA 6 itself is not becoming a PlayStation exclusive. The controllers are PlayStation accessories, and Sony is also applying different availability rules to the two designs.
GTA 6’s PS5 controllers come in Black and White editions
Sony designed the two controllers around different sides of Vice City.
The GTA VI White Limited Edition DualSense takes inspiration from the city’s daytime look, using a lighter base combined with the pastel shades associated with Vice City’s beaches, sky and Florida-inspired scenery.
The GTA VI Black Limited Edition DualSense goes after the opposite end of the day. Its darker shell is based around Vice City’s nightlife and neon-heavy visual style.
Both versions use an iridescent, color-shifting finish intended to resemble the mixture of sunset colors and city lights seen throughout GTA 6’s marketing. Sony has also molded palm-tree details directly into the controllers, rather than simply printing another logo on a standard shell and calling it a collector’s item. A little effort is always appreciated when the price creeps above the regular controller.

The two GTA 6 controllers have the same recommended retail price:
United States: $84.99
Europe: €84.99
United Kingdom: £74.99
Japan: ¥12,480, including tax
Pre-orders begin on September 10, 2026.
For U.S. customers, PlayStation Direct pre-orders open at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET. Sony says quantities will be limited.
The controllers begin launching on November 19, although Sony warns that the exact release date and availability can differ depending on the country or region.
That qualification matters. “Limited edition” has become one of gaming hardware’s favorite ways of turning a normal checkout page into a small-scale panic attack, and Sony has not said how many units it intends to manufacture.
Is the GTA 6 controller exclusive to PlayStation Direct?
This is where the two models differ.
The GTA VI Black Limited Edition will be sold in limited quantities exclusively through PlayStation Direct in countries where the store operates. In regions without PlayStation Direct, Sony says it can instead appear through selected retailers.
The GTA VI White Limited Edition will receive wider distribution. Sony says it will be available globally in limited quantities through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers.
Calling both controllers simply “PlayStation exclusives” therefore loses some useful detail. They are obviously DualSense products made for the PlayStation ecosystem, but the Black model is the one carrying the more restrictive PlayStation Direct sales arrangement in supported markets.
GTA 6 will use DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
The collaboration goes beyond cosmetic hardware.
Sony says GTA 6 will make use of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, allowing resistance and vibration to respond dynamically to events in the game.
Specific gameplay examples have not yet been fully detailed, so there is little reason to invent a list of magical sensations the controller supposedly provides. The confirmed part is that Rockstar is supporting those two major DualSense features.
That could affect activities ranging from driving to weapons and environmental effects, but until Rockstar demonstrates those implementations directly, anything more specific belongs in the speculation pile.
Sony’s push around the controller also fits a wider marketing relationship surrounding GTA 6.
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI website currently carries a “Plays Best On PlayStation 5” label while still listing both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as launch platforms.
The wording is noteworthy, although it should be read for what it is: marketing language rather than evidence that Rockstar has changed the game’s platform strategy.
GTA 6 remains scheduled for November 19, 2026

Still, Xbox owners are not being locked out of GTA 6. What Sony has secured here is branded hardware, enhanced PlayStation marketing and a more prominent place beside what will probably be one of 2026’s largest entertainment launches.
For players interested in the controllers themselves, September 10 is the date to watch. The Black and White Limited Editions both cost $84.99 in the U.S., and Sony has already warned that stock will be limited.
Given the collecting habits surrounding GTA and limited-edition PlayStation hardware, “limited” may prove to be the most important word in the announcement.
