The Essentials

Super Mario Party Jamboree is almost here. Want to try it before launch? Well, you might be in luck. Some stores are letting Mario Party fans get a taste of the action early. Sure, a Switch demo would be nice. But this will do for now.

The Mario Party series? It’s been around since the N64 days. It’s a Nintendo staple at this point. On the Switch, though? It’s gone to the next level. Super Mario Party (2018) smashed 20 million copies sold. And Mario Party Superstars (2021) is already over 12 million. Not bad. Now, Nintendo wants to top that with Super Mario Party Jamboree. More than 110 minigames. Seven boards. New modes. Bigger. Better. You get it.

Biggest Mario Party Ever? They’re calling this the biggest one yet. Will it be? Maybe. If they follow Mario Kart’s route with new content, who knows?

Some stores are already letting people try the game. According to Nintendo Wire, you can find Super Mario Party Jamboree kiosks at Target, Best Buy, and GameStop. They’ve been there since October 4. If you’re near one, check it out. Get a taste before the game officially drops on October 17.

The Demo: Quick and Limited

Now, don’t expect to play for hours. There’s a 10-minute limit. Yeah, short. Also, you’ll only get to try two modes: Koopathalon and Minigame Bay.

In Koopathalon, up to 20 players battle it out in minigames, trying to outpace each other on the game board. Minigame Bay is for up to 4 players. It’s packed with activities from the 110+ minigames in the full game. But in the demo, you’re limited to three: Showdown Minigame Battle, Free Play, and Tag Match.

Will we get an eShop demo? Who knows. Time’s running out. But Nintendo does love dropping surprises for its bigger titles, so we might still get one. Hopefully, this game hits the sweet spot for Mario Party veterans and first-timers alike.

What’s in Store for Super Mario Party Jamboree?

This one’s a content beast. Seven boards. Over 110 minigames. Classics like Western Land and Mario’s Rainbow Castle make a comeback. You can wander around Goomba Lagoon, or go hunt for stars in Rainbow Galleria.

Also, the 20-player Koopathalon. It’s a first for the series. Think you’ve got what it takes? Race across the board, crush minigames like Lane Change, and speed your way to the goal. The better you do, the faster you go. Simple.

But it’s not all about Koopathalon. There are plenty of extra modes to keep things interesting. There’s something here for every type of player, no matter how competitive (or not) you are.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar. October 17 is when the real party starts.
