The Essentials

Dr Disrespect had a few choice words after hearing what the co-founder of Kick had to say about him joining their platform. It’s been an ongoing saga ever since the drama surrounding his Twitch ban blew up, and now, Kick’s latest comments have added more fuel to the fire.

The situation traces back to Dr Disrespect’s temporary break after reports surfaced about his ban from Twitch. There was talk about some questionable private messaging with a minor, which resulted in his swift ban. Once that news spread, YouTube hit him with demonetization, making people wonder if he’d jump ship to a new platform. Despite all the speculation, Dr Disrespect is back to streaming on YouTube, and there’s no sign of him heading to Kick anytime soon.

Things got interesting when Edward Kraven, Kick’s co-founder, threw shade by saying signing Dr Disrespect would be a “waste of money.” No sugarcoating, no drama, just cold business logic. Kraven didn’t think the move made sense for the platform and definitely wasn’t interested in offering any deals. Of course, Dr Disrespect, being who he is, didn’t just sit quietly.

He clapped back, saying he’d retire before even thinking about joining Kick. He even doubled down, calling his community the “best in the industry” and saying he wouldn’t take them there. And in typical Doc fashion, he threw in that Kick keeps dropping his name for a reason.

But let’s rewind a bit. There was a time when Kick considered offering Dr Disrespect a massive deal. We’re talking $50 million per year. But Dr Disrespect reportedly refused, saying he wouldn’t budge for anything less than $100 million a year. Yes, you read that right, $100 million. To put it in perspective, Kick did land a $100 million deal with xQc, but that was spread over two years and tied to all sorts of incentives. So yeah, Dr Disrespect’s demands didn’t exactly line up with Kick’s plans, especially with the controversy lingering in the background.

Fast forward to now, and Dr Disrespect is still not making money off his YouTube channel. With both Twitch and Kick seemingly out of the picture, the big question is where he’ll end up next. Some think platforms like Rumble or even Twitter might be in his future. But for now, it’s all speculation as the saga continues.

Maybe this drama isn’t over just yet.
