Banjo-Tooie is back. Yep, the bear and bird duo are flying (or waddling) their way to Nintendo Switch Online on October 25, 2024. This one’s for the Expansion Pack members, so if you haven’t shelled out for that yet… well, this might be the push you need.
What’s new? Widescreen mode. That’s right, this time you’ll get to see more of Spiral Mountain and Gruntilda’s Lair without squinting at your old, fuzzy memories. It’s the Banjo-Tooie you remember, just with a bit more screen real estate. Gotta love when they throw in a little bonus for the die-hards. And no, Nuts & Bolts is still not part of this conversation, because we all know why.

So yeah, both Banjo games are now officially on the Switch. You’ve already got Banjo-Kazooie up there, and now this closes the loop. Or does it? You gotta wonder, will Rare throw in anything else? Or will they just keep us dangling like they have with all those other N64 gems?
It’s been a while since Nintendo added anything to the N64 collection for Switch, the last one being Perfect Dark. Fans have been waiting, probably checking the calendar every day since June. You can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from the 90s platformer crowd. This is nostalgia bait done right.
The wait is almost over. October 25. Mark it. If you’ve never tackled Grunty in all her puzzle-filled, sassy glory, this is your chance. And if you have? Well, here’s your excuse to do it all over again.
